Overview

The SwiftVecto Barcode Scanner & Reader is designed for both individual barcode decoding and practical batch-scanning workflows. You can read supported one-dimensional and two-dimensional codes from uploaded images, scan continuously with a phone or computer camera, receive barcode input from standard USB or Bluetooth keyboard-mode scanners, and download stored barcode records from compatible Web Serial devices. Successful scans are added to a session history that can preserve duplicates, create unique lists, and export results as TXT or CSV.

How It Works

Choose Image, Camera, Physical Scanner or Serial Scanner mode.

Image mode decodes a selected, dropped or pasted barcode image.

Camera mode continuously analyses frames from a compatible device camera.

Physical Scanner mode receives decoded values from standard keyboard-mode USB or Bluetooth scanners.

Serial Scanner mode uses the browser Web Serial API to communicate with compatible memory scanners and download stored scan records.

Every accepted barcode becomes part of the active SwiftVecto scan session.

The latest successful scan is displayed immediately.

Live scans can trigger a brief visual confirmation, beep and supported-device vibration.

The full session preserves repeated barcode values because duplicate scans may represent multiple physical items.

Use Copy Unique or Unique export options only when duplicate values should be removed.

The active session is stored locally in the browser to reduce the risk of losing accumulated scans.

How to Use This Tool

  • For 1D barcodes, keep the bars as straight and clear as possible.
  • Higher-resolution images generally improve decoding reliability.
  • When doing a stocktake, allow repeated scans because each scan may represent another physical item.
  • Use Copy Unique or Unique export only when you specifically want one copy of each barcode.
  • Keep standard USB or Bluetooth scanners configured in keyboard or HID mode for the simplest browser integration.
  • For serial-memory scanners, use a Chromium-based browser with Web Serial support.
  • Do not enable Clear scanner memory until you have confirmed the download has worked correctly for your device.

Pair a keyboard-mode Bluetooth scanner with a phone or tablet, open Physical Scanner mode and scan each product. Every deliberate scan is retained, including repeated product codes, so the exported scan log can represent the actual items counted.

Start Camera mode on a phone, point it at each supported label and use the beep, vibration and visual confirmation to know when a barcode has been accepted without scrolling away from the camera view.

Barcode

Can I scan a barcode from an image?

Yes. SwiftVecto can decode supported barcode formats from images selected, dropped or pasted into the browser.

Can I use my phone camera to scan barcodes?

Yes. On compatible mobile browsers you can use Camera mode to scan supported barcodes directly with the phone camera.

Can I connect a USB barcode scanner?

Yes. Standard USB scanners configured in keyboard or HID mode can usually type their decoded barcode values directly into SwiftVecto without a special SwiftVecto driver.

Can I use a Bluetooth barcode scanner?

Yes. If the Bluetooth scanner is paired with your device and behaves like a keyboard, SwiftVecto can receive its decoded barcode input.

Can I scan hundreds or thousands of items?

Yes. The scan-session design is intended to retain large collections of barcode records while only rendering a limited number of recent entries on screen for performance.

What happens if I scan the same product several times?

Each deliberate physical-scanner scan is preserved. Repeated codes may represent multiple physical items, so SwiftVecto does not automatically remove them from the main session.

Can I remove duplicate barcodes?

Yes. The scan history remains complete, while Copy Unique and Unique TXT or CSV options can produce a deduplicated list when required.

Can I copy all scanned barcodes at once?

Yes. Copy All places the scanned barcode values on the clipboard, one value per line.

Can I export the scans to CSV?

Yes. CSV export can preserve barcode value, detected format or supplied symbology, scan source and timestamp.

Can I export only the barcode values?

Yes. TXT export creates a simple list of barcode values and can include all scans or unique values only.

Will I know immediately when a phone camera has scanned successfully?

Yes. Successful live scans can display a brief confirmation and may also trigger a beep and vibration on supported devices.

Can SwiftVecto download barcodes already stored inside a handheld scanner?

Yes, for compatible serial-memory scanners supported by the current Web Serial integration. The browser can communicate directly with the selected device and add its stored records to the active scan session.

Does Serial Scanner mode work with Opticon memory scanners?

The initial serial-memory implementation is based on the protocol used by compatible Opticon companion scanners such as devices in the OPN family and related models. Actual device compatibility should be tested before relying on it operationally.

Does Web Serial work in every browser?

No. Web Serial support depends on the browser and operating system. A compatible Chromium-based desktop browser is generally the appropriate choice for Serial Scanner mode.

Can SwiftVecto clear a memory scanner after downloading its data?

Where supported, Serial Scanner mode can optionally clear stored barcode records after a successful download. This option should remain disabled unless the user intentionally wants the scanner memory erased.

Does scanning identify the product automatically?

Not by itself. A retail barcode normally contains an identifier such as an EAN or UPC number. Identifying the corresponding product requires an appropriate product database or lookup service.

Can it read QR codes?

Yes. QR Code is among the supported two-dimensional formats for image and camera decoding.

Can it read EAN-13?

Yes. EAN-13 is a supported common retail barcode format.

Can it read UPC barcodes?

Yes. Supported UPC variants can be decoded by the active image or camera decoding engine.

Can it read Code 128?

Yes. Code 128 is supported and is commonly encountered in inventory, warehouse and logistics workflows.

Can it read Data Matrix codes?

Yes, where the active decoding engine can successfully detect the Data Matrix symbol.

What happens if I accidentally refresh or leave the page during a scan session?

An active scan session can trigger the browser native leave-page warning. Scan records are also designed to be stored locally in browser storage so the session can be protected independently from the visible page state.

Are barcode images uploaded to SwiftVecto?

Normal barcode image decoding happens in the browser and does not require the image to pass through the SwiftVecto server processing queue.

Is serial scanner data uploaded to SwiftVecto servers?

Normal Web Serial communication takes place directly between the compatible browser and the selected hardware device. Downloaded records are incorporated into the local browser scan session.

Is it safe to open URLs found in QR codes?

You should inspect unknown links before opening them. QR codes can contain malicious or misleading website addresses just like ordinary links.
