Random Wheel
Create a custom spinning wheel from names, choices or options and randomly select a winner directly in your browser.
Build Your Random Wheel
Enter names, choices, tasks, prizes or other options, one per line.
Blank lines are ignored. Each active entry receives an equal chance of selection.

Spin the Wheel
The winner is selected randomly before the animation reveals it.
Ctrl/Cmd + Enter or Space can also spin the wheel.

How the Random Wheel Selects a Winner
Build the List
Every active line becomes one equal wheel entry.
Select Randomly
The browser selects an active entry programmatically before the wheel begins stopping.
Reveal the Result
The wheel animation lands on the already selected entry and displays the result.
Duplicate Entries Affect Probability
Each active line counts as a separate wheel entry.
If the same name appears twice in a four-entry list, that name effectively occupies two of the four available selections.
Turn off Allow Duplicates if repeated values should count only once.
Use Elimination Mode for Unique Winners
Elimination mode removes the selected entry after every completed spin.
This is useful for classroom participation, presentation order, informal prize draws and other situations where the same entry should not immediately be selected again.
Equal Probability
Every active entry receives one equal selection position.

How to Use the Random Wheel
Use the SwiftVecto Random Wheel to enter names, choices, tasks, prizes or other options and select one at random with an animated spinning wheel.
Overview
The Random Wheel converts a list of options into equal wheel segments. When the wheel is spun, the browser generates a random winning position and animates the wheel before revealing the selected item. It can be used for everyday decisions, classroom activities, raffles, games, giveaways, team activities or any situation where one choice should be selected fairly from a list. Optional elimination mode can remove selected entries after each spin so the same item is not chosen again.
Benefits
How It Works
Enter one option per line in the list editor.
Blank lines are ignored.
The active entries are converted into equal wheel segments.
Each active entry receives the same selection probability.
When Spin is pressed, the browser generates a random target entry.
The wheel animates through multiple rotations before stopping on the selected entry.
The result is displayed after the animation finishes.
The selected entry can optionally be removed from future spins.
Spin history is stored temporarily in the current browser session.
Reset restores the original active list.
How to Use This Tool
-
1Enter at least two options, one per line.
-
2Review the wheel preview.
-
3Choose whether elimination mode should be enabled.
-
4Press Spin the Wheel.
-
5Wait for the wheel to stop.
-
6Review the selected result.
-
7Spin again if another selection is required.
-
8Use elimination mode when each option should be selected only once.
-
9Use Shuffle if you want to rearrange the wheel segments.
-
10Use Reset to restore all original entries.
-
11Use Clear to start with a new list.
Helpful Tips
- Enter one choice per line for the clearest list.
- Use unique entries when each person or option should represent one chance.
- Duplicate entries effectively give that value multiple chances if duplicates are allowed.
- Use elimination mode for raffles or classroom selection where winners should not repeat.
- Leave elimination mode disabled when the same option may be selected more than once.
- For large lists, shorter labels make the wheel easier to read.
- Very long labels may need to be shortened visually on the wheel while remaining intact in the result.
- Use Shuffle to change the visible order without changing each entry's probability.
- Reset the wheel before beginning a new selection session.
- For formal prize draws, record the results separately if an audit trail is required.
- The visual wheel animation does not determine the winner; the random selection is made programmatically.
- Do not rely on a browser randomizer for regulated gambling, cryptographic draws or legally audited lotteries.

Worked Examples
The following examples demonstrate how this tool can be used in realistic scenarios.
Choosing a Restaurant
Enter Pizza, Indian, Chinese, Thai and Burgers as separate options. Spin the wheel and use the selected result as the restaurant choice.
Classroom Student Picker
Enter each student name on a separate line. Enable elimination mode to ensure each student is selected only once during the activity.
Giveaway Selection
Enter eligible participant names and spin the wheel to choose a winner. Remove the winner before spinning again when multiple unique winners are required.
Task Selection
Add several chores or tasks and let the wheel randomly decide which one should be completed next.
Activity Planning
Add options such as Cinema, Bowling, Walk, Museum and Games Night and let the wheel choose the activity.
Common Mistakes
Avoid these common mistakes to achieve the most accurate results.
- Entering all options on one line instead of one per line.
- Including duplicate names unintentionally.
- Assuming duplicate entries still represent only one chance.
- Using elimination mode when repeat selections are actually required.
- Forgetting to reset eliminated entries before starting a new session.
- Assuming the animation itself creates randomness.
- Expecting the wheel to provide cryptographically secure randomness.
- Using extremely long labels that are difficult to display on wheel segments.
- Using a random wheel when weighted probabilities are required.
- Assuming the current version supports weighted entries unless explicitly provided by the interface.
- Using a casual randomizer for regulated gambling or legally audited draws.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a random wheel?
A random wheel is a visual picker that divides a wheel into options and randomly selects one when the wheel is spun.
How many options can I add?
The interface is designed to support many entries, although very large lists may become difficult to display clearly on a visual wheel.
Does each option have the same chance?
Yes. Each active entry is intended to receive an equal probability unless weighted selection is explicitly added in a future version.
What happens if I add the same name twice?
If duplicate entries remain in the active list, each occurrence represents a separate wheel entry and therefore increases the chance of that value being selected.
Can I remove a winner after each spin?
Yes. Elimination mode can remove the selected entry from future spins.
Can the same winner be selected more than once?
Yes. Leave elimination mode disabled when repeat selections should remain possible.
Can I use the Random Wheel for names?
Yes. Names are one of the most common uses for a random wheel.
Can I use it for classroom activities?
Yes. Teachers can use the wheel to choose students, questions, teams, activities or presentation order.
Can I use it for giveaways?
It can be used for informal giveaway selection. Formal or legally regulated drawings may require audited systems and additional compliance controls.
Can I shuffle the wheel?
Yes. The visible order of active entries can be randomized without intentionally changing their probability.
Does the spin animation determine the winner?
No. The application should choose the random target programmatically and animate the wheel to reveal that result.
Does SwiftVecto upload my list?
The Random Wheel is designed to perform normal interactive selection directly in your browser without requiring the list to be uploaded to SwiftVecto.
Is the result cryptographically secure?
The tool is intended for everyday random selection and entertainment, not cryptographic, regulated gambling or legally audited lottery applications.
Can I use numbers instead of names?
Yes. Any short text value can be used as an option.
Can I enter tasks or activities?
Yes. The wheel can select tasks, activities, meals, destinations, games or other choices.
What happens when only one option remains?
There is no meaningful random choice when only one active entry remains. The interface should prompt the user to reset or add more options.
Can I reset eliminated entries?
Yes. Reset restores the wheel to its original list for a new session.
Is the Random Wheel free?
Yes. SwiftVecto provides the Random Wheel as a free browser-based randomizer utility.
Things to Know
- The Random Wheel is designed as a browser-only interactive tool.
- No processing queue is required.
- No file upload is required.
- The wheel should use equal probability for each active entry.
- The visual animation should reveal a result selected programmatically rather than use animation timing as the source of randomness.
- Elimination mode should affect only active entries and preserve result history.
- The JavaScript module should export init() so SwiftVecto can lazy-load it only on the Random Wheel page.
- The tool should support keyboard and reduced-motion considerations where practical.
